Joshua Lim (大马阿华) is a Kuala Lumpur videographer and producer who specialises in corporate video and event video production in Malaysia. Since 2011 he has filmed for Nestlé, Maggi, Sharp, Great Eastern and Amway, and his studio, Precious Media Production, now uses AI to deliver faster and at lower cost.

From the Chief Editor

At Tale and Muse, we look for makers who change how the work gets done, not just how it looks. Joshua Lim is one of them.

Malaysian companies need two things done well: a corporate video that shows who they are, and event coverage that captures their biggest night of the year. Joshua Lim has built his name on both, filming for Nestlé, Sharp and Amway and covering annual dinners and corporate events across Malaysia.

This is the story of a Malaysian videographer who started with weddings, earned the trust of multinational brands, and now uses AI to make corporate video faster and more affordable.

From The One Academy to DeAmore Wedding House

Joshua trained at The One Academy, graduating with a Diploma in Digital Animation, Commercial and Advertising Art. That mix of animation and advertising training sits behind the 3D and VFX work his studio produces today.

He began shooting professionally in 2011, filming for major brands from the start. In 2015 he founded DeAmore Wedding House in Petaling Jaya, a wedding and event photography studio he ran until 2017. It was his first business, and the groundwork for the company he would build next.

Precious Media Production: corporate and event video in Malaysia

In September 2018, Joshua founded Precious Media Production in Kuala Lumpur. Its core work is corporate video and event video production for Malaysian companies: company profile videos, brand films, internal launches and annual dinners.

Beyond that core, Joshua also leads big productions. He produces TV commercials (TVC), commercial videos for brands and film projects, working as producer and filmmaker on full-scale shoots.

Malaysia is the studio’s main market, and every service is offered there. The team films events anywhere in the country, with travel and accommodation charged for shoots outside the Klang Valley.

His team handles everything in-house, from script and storyboard to filming, 3D, VFX and editing. That includes architectural visualisation, taking a project from a rough sketch to a 3D model to a finished video.

Joshua Lim’s clients: Nestlé, Sharp, Amway and more

Joshua Lim has produced commercial and corporate video for Nestlé, Maggi, Sharp, Great Eastern, Amway, Samaiden, D Harvest Berhad, Bigo Live and Tung Shin Hospital. Few independent producers in Malaysia cover this many sectors at this level.

The work ranges from TV and digital commercials to annual report films, internal brand launches, documentary-style sustainability films and large event coverage. For an FMCG giant like Nestlé, that means strict brand standards and tight deadlines. For insurers and hospitals, it means telling a clear story within compliance rules.

“I don’t like to box myself into one category,” Joshua says. In a single year he may shoot a commercial, a corporate film and an event for the same client.

Why Joshua Lim is a name Malaysian brands trust

In Malaysia’s production world, reputation travels by referral rather than by awards. Joshua’s standing comes from repeat business with multinational brands, and from five strengths few producers combine:

  1. Corporate and event specialist. Company videos and live event coverage are his core work, and he scales up to full TVC and commercial productions when a brand needs it.
  2. Multinational repeat clients. Nestlé, Great Eastern and Amway come back project after project, the clearest proof of reliable work.
  3. Range across sectors. FMCG, finance, healthcare, energy, direct selling and entertainment each have their own production culture, and he works in all of them.
  4. Fifteen years on set. He has filmed for major brands since 2011, from weddings in Petaling Jaya to national brand events.
  5. AI for speed and cost. His in-house team uses AI for storyboards, VFX and 3D, so corporate clients approve faster and pay less.

That mix of event-day reliability, big-brand experience and AI-assisted speed sets Joshua apart among corporate video producers in Malaysia.

How AI makes his corporate videos faster and cheaper

Joshua uses AI to do work that once needed whole teams. According to Joshua, AI-driven compositing and VFX can cut costs by close to 10 times compared with hiring a full compositing and animation team, and the work finishes faster.

The biggest shift is in storyboarding. Joshua now builds storyboards with ChatGPT instead of hiring an illustrator and a copywriter. A process that used to take about a month now moves far faster.

That speed matters most to corporate clients. Decision-makers no longer have to imagine a film from a script; they see the idea, so approvals come sooner. For Joshua, AI is not a replacement for filmmaking craft. It removes the slow, costly steps between an idea and a yes.

Beyond Malaysia

Malaysia remains the focus. Outside it, the studio takes selected work depending on the market:

  • Malaysia: full service, including corporate video, event filming such as annual dinners, and AI video
  • Singapore: on-site filming and AI video production; the Malaysian team travels in for shoots
  • UK, USA and Australia: remote AI video production and remote direction, with no on-site filming
  • Hong Kong and wider Asia: AI video production for Chinese-reading audiences

His team works in English, Malay, Indonesian, Mandarin and Cantonese. That suits Malaysia’s multilingual corporate events, where one dinner or launch may run in three languages.
